About: Players experience every possible occurrence of Jonathan in the universe by voting on his life choices. The project is comedic, absurd and revels in its existential dread. Contemporary works include; Rick & Morty, Florence, Bojack Horseman, and Netflix’s Bandersnatch.
My role as a narrative designer on Infinite Jonathans…
Develop the overall narrative direction / voice of the project (the tone and humor).
Conceive and write the game’s stories, characters & events.
Plotting/mapping a branching narrative. (Choices impact Jonathan’s journey, we needed to ensure plot still made sense, and stories connected together).
Writing flavor text & game dialogue.
Working with a back-end client to implement stories. (Minor management of back-end client made in JSON).
Working with illustration team to direct congruence between writing & visuals.
Working & leading a writer’s a room.
Infinite Jonathans was shown at PAX EAST 2019 in Boston.
Infinite Jonathans (card game)
Platform: Physical card game.
Company: Simple Machine, AdMagic.
About: Infinite Jonathans was also adapted into a card game, in development with AdMagic (Cards Against Humanity). Players race to collect “Jonathans”, each Jonathan is weighted by a point-system. Most points by the end of the round wins.
